Florida Medicaid Family Planning Waiver

    Florida is seeking to extend its family planning demonstration for five years. This demonstration operates statewide and provides family planning services and family planning-related services to women of childbearing age with family income at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level, who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid. The state is not proposing any programmatic changes to the demonstration with this extension request. The federal public comment period will be open from October 11, 2017 to November 10, 2017.

    Florida's Family Planning Waiver section 1115 demonstration was initially implemented on October 1, 1998. The demonstration currently provides family planning and family planning-related services to women of childbearing age losing Medicaid pregnancy coverage or full Medicaid coverage, who have family income at or below 185 percent of the Federal poverty level, and who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program, or health insurance coverage that provides family planning services. Eligibility is limited to 2 years after losing Medicaid coverage, subject to an annual re-determination. The state has not proposed any changes to the demonstration in its extension request.
